CrossFit OPEN 25.1 – FEELING THE GRIND

Yesterday, I did my first CrossFit Open workout in about 3 years - 25.1, and let me tell you—nothing hits quite like that mix of exhaustion and exhilaration when the clock finally hits zero. It’s been four months since my last CrossFit workout, and during that time, I’ve been all-in on Peloton Tread and powerlifting. But yesterday, I stepped off the tread and away from the bar in my garage gym, and hit the workout - man did it hit me harder back!

But when it was over, I thought to myself - I missed this.

The Mental Battle

I missed the grind. I missed the mental battle. I missed the moment when my brain told me to stop, but something deep inside said, Nah, one more rep. Just get on the ground. Just jump over the damn dumbbell.

That’s what CrossFit does—it pushes you to places you forget you can go. It strips away the distractions and leaves you with nothing but effort and determination. And when you lean into that challenge, when you refuse to let up even when your lungs are burning and your legs feel like lead, that’s where the magic happens.

Competing With Myself

I’ll let you guess my score—it wasn’t Games-level athlete, but it was my hard. And in life, you’re in competition with yourself. Sure, there’s a scorecard and rankings, but what does that even matter if you’re not satisfied? If you don’t push yourself beyond what’s comfortable, no leaderboard will ever fill that gap.

The Feeling When the Clock Hits Zero

The best part? That feeling after the clock hits zero. That deep, undeniable satisfaction that you left it all on the floor. No regrets, no second-guessing—just the knowledge that you showed up, pushed through, and came out stronger for it.

Whether you’re doing the Open for fun, to test yourself, or to see where you stack up, don’t forget to embrace the grind. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the leaderboard—it’s about proving to yourself that you can.

On to the next one.
